Reading Age
Level of comprehension of written material, that is usually expressed as an ‘age’, according to the average level of comprehension for children of that age. The reading age of average readers closely follows their chronological age, until it reaches 15 years, which is usually the oldest age tested. The system becomes significant when a person's reading age exceeds their chronological age (in the case of able readers), or lags behind it (in the case of people with some reading difficulties).
