Client–server Architecture
In computing, a system in which the mechanics of looking after data are separated from the programs that use the data. For example, the ‘server’ might be a central database, typically located on a large computer that is reserved for this purpose. The ‘client’ would be an ordinary program that requests data from the server as needed.
Most Internet services are examples of client–server applications, including the World Wide Web, FTP, and Telnet.
