She first played Funny Girl on the stage 1964 in New York and 1966 in London, and had a hit with the songs from it, written by Bob Merrill (19211998) and Jule Styne, especially People. She produced several albums during the 1960s and 70s, many of them also compilations of hits from her films and musicals.
