King of Italy from 1878, who joined the Triple Alliance 1882 with Germany and Austria-Hungary; his colonial ventures included the defeat at Adwa, Abyssinia, 1896. He was assassinated by an anarchist.

The national colours are taken from the Rusyn arms of 1848. Effective date: 28 January 1992. >>
