Falsetto

In music, the tone-production of male singers resulting in notes above their normal pitch in the female (soprano or alto) register, and sounding like an unbroken voice. The notes are ‘falsely’, or artificially, produced by making the vocal cords vibrate at a length shorter than usual. Falsetto is the voice normally cultivated by male countertenors.
